This young woman is donning some real 40's charm in this photograph taken in the late 1940's. She is sporting tight pin-curls on top with the sides pulled back and held in place with bobbypins. The back of her hair is curly also but in a more subtle fashion. She is wearing a feminine sheer blouse with lacey camisole and has a vintage heart shaped pin. Women of this peirod typicalled wore dark-red lipstick which was associated with Hollywood glamour.

Women back then did not have the luxury of hand held blow-dryers, so hairstyling began the night before. Hair was washed in the evening and then styled while wet. Hair was wound around the finger and then pinned in place to allow for drying during the night. In the morning the hairpins were removed and the curls were styled with the fingers rather than a brush to prevent pulling them out of style.

Here is some 50's style with a photograph taken in 1957 that shows what was in at the time for men. Although teenagers may have been sporting ducktails, this gentleman has a typical crew-cut that is flat on top, otherwise known as a flat-top. The barber no doubt buzzed this haircut.

Short sleeve button-up shirts were big and especially plaids. A white tee-shirt was worn underneath that showed up as the shirt was unbuttoned a few down. Blue jeans in dark colors with the bottoms of lthe egs rolled up was a hit. Eyeglasses were big and thick framed (horn-rimmed) and also black. This was big change from previous decades when thin frames were popular.

This photo of Sarah Jessica Parker was taken at Steve and Barry's in the Manhattan Mall in New York City at an event to launch her new clothing line: Bitten on June 8th 2007.

Sarah is best known for her role on "Sex and the City" as Carrie Bradshaw. We loved to watch all of her fashion choices on the show as well as her many different hairstyles. She was well known for her curly do but she looks lovely here with long, straight, and shiny hair. It is parted near the middle with no bangs as was so popular during the 70's which is highly fashionable once again. It is amazing how a non hairstyle like this can be so attractive.

If you have naturally wavy hair and are looking for a short hairstyle to take advantage of your hair's basic instincts, then check this out. This guy's hair is shorter on the sides and these strands are pushed forward with some hair gel. The top gradually gets longer as it reaches the center of the head. A good styling product allows one to run fingers through the locks while pushing the hair up and to the middle for a good modern hairstyle. The ends have a touch of hightlights to add depth and interest.

George Clooney shows us some real old fashioned Hollywood charm with this traditional men's hairstyle. He has salt and pepper hair that makes him look very distinguished. George is 46 years old and is one sexy man to many women. His hair is cut short with a little longer layers on top that are combed to the side in a slicked back fashion. He has nice thick hair and a clean shaven face.

This picture of him was taken at the Ocean's Thirteen Los Angeles Premiere on June 5th 2007. We loved him as Dr. Ross on "ER" as well as Daniel Ocean in "Ocean's Eleven, Twelve, and Thirteen."
