Asymmetrical Bob for Mature Woman

Helen Mirren is sporting a bob that is shorter on one side to create an asymmetrical appearance here at the 66th Annual Directors Guild Of America Awards.

This attractive 68 year old actress shows us that we can still look fabulous with a perfect haircut for a woman in her 60's and also have something edgy. Her blonde color works well with mature grey in a way that works well together. The grey shade is more of a white so some softer tones are placed near her face in her bangs. One side can either be tucked behind the ear or actually cut just above the ear for the effect. The other side comes down to chin level. There is no specific part but rather there is one point where all strands are styled from. There is a touch of lift at the top for this straight style. The ends taper with some layers to prevent bushiness.

She has won many awards throughout her acting career which included films beginning in the 60's. She was born in London in 1945. Her movies include: Excalibur, Calendar Girls, and Hitchcock.

Kids Hairstyles from the 1950's

Some fun hairstyle trends for boys and girls began to surface in the 1950's!!!!

This is a darling photo of two brothers posing for a portrait with their younger sister who is sitting in between them.

The two boys are sporting the all new crew cut of their time. These kids would fit right in in today's fashion and hair world. The sides of their styles are cut shorter and the top is spiked up and cut straight across. They used products to achieve this look and are looking rather grown up and fashionable. They are wearing polo shirts with collars and while the older one has his buttoned to the top, the younger one has a more relaxed look with the top left undone.

Their little toddler sister has very short Bettie Page type bangs that are cut in an arch with the sides coming down into a curly type bob. The top section is very straight while the sides are created with pin curls that are dried into shape and gently brushed through to keep their form. The length on the sides is just past ear level. Her little dress is cute with puff sleeves.

Quite the handsome all American family from the days of Leave it to Beaver.

Sarah Paulson Bob for Fine Thin Hair

Here's great example of a style that works when you have fine and thin hair.

Chelsea Kane Side Swept Bob

This is a darling short style that is a cross between a crop and a bob. The sides are tucked behind the ears while the back is cut up off of the collar.

Lots of layers help the pieces fall right into place. Highlights and lowlights create tons of depth with chunky color in shades from blonde to brown. The bangs sweep over from a deep side part. A slight amount of height is created at the top with some back combing of the underneath layers. This is a smoother look for her that is is bit understated compared to her more choppy and beachy styles of the past.

Seattle Grunge Scene

If you ever travel to Seattle you will get an eye full of colorful people!


Sweatshirts, skinny jeans, and skateboards tell the story. Wearing the hood up on the sweatshirt is part of the scene whether or not the weather warrants it. This day is on the chilly side at about 38 degrees. One hand in the pocket and one holding the cig. The bottom of the skateboard is full of artwork and sits up for all to see.

She has her North Face jacket, purple backpack and tennis shoes, along with a hip hop style baseball cap. The skateboard is carried under one arm as she strolls on the boardwalk.

Her long hair has definite sections of color for a do it yourself two to three tone look. Many skaters sport emo hairstyles with the do it yourself look. The strands can be cut at home to save money and the color is done this way too. This way insures that each look is completely individual and unique.
