Ashlee Simpson looks spunky and glamorous with this curly bob hairstyle. This is a cute short hairdo for her that is softly feminine with big loose curls that start at eye level and finish at the chin. Her long bangs are pulled to the side and held in place with a bobby pin to show off her forehead and give a bang-less look. The back is cut slightly shorter to give more fullness around the bottom and this type of bob is referred to as an inverted type. This style is vintage in nature and follows the trend that was popular in the 40's when women looked to Hollywood stars for inspiration. Ashlee's lovely blonde locks and long lashes shout glamour all the way.

1950's Hair and Clothes

Here is a typical example of styles from the 50's. Hair was conservative for the most part and so were the fashions.

Mother and Daughter

These were the post war years and most women stayed home while the men worked to support the family. This mother and daughter have a short and wavy hairstyle that is parted on the side and coaxed into gentle waves. Wearing curlers to bed was common and then in the morning hair was brushed into place. Hairstyles were typically short enough to show the bottom of the ears. This was simple and easy to maintain.

Vintage Early 1900 Hairstyle with Hat and Typical Clothes

This vintage picture shows the common styles of women in the early 1900's. This woman is wearing a stylish hat with a large peacock sized feather that was all the rage for the turn of the century and she is carrying a real alligator purse. This photo may have been taken in the late 1800's. She is a relative of mine and this picture is from my archives of pics handed down from my grandmother. Her skirt is floor-length and the top half is rather business-like by our standards today with a matching jacket. Her hands are covered by gloves. Her hair is pulled up into a rather poofy looking hairdo but then covered by that hat. She was quite fashionable for her time. People always looked so serious back then.

Typical Early 1950's Hair and Clothes for Men

1950's charm is seen here in this picture taken of a young man with his convertible car taken in the very early 50's.

The 1940's influence in fashion and hair is seen here with hair parted on the side and combed over with a wave in the front. Baggy slacks with cuffs at the bottom, and a little too short by today's standards, top off the vintage look. A preppy looking sweater with big round buttons was typical. His sunglasses are big aviator style with thin frames.

Great 70's Hairstyles with Authentic Pictures
