The 1950's were a time of "Happy Days" when many would argue that life was much simpler. This is an original vintage graduation photo of a girl with a typical hairstyle of this era.

1959 Graduation Photo

This senior picture has the Class of 59 emblem on it! She has short blonde hair that is curled into a sweet conservative style that has a side part and the bangs are pulled over to the side with a small curl on the end of them. Women of this time period often slept with rollers and or used bobby pins to make the strands do what they wanted while the locks were still wet the night before. Make up was not real common for teenagers as we can see that she has a very natural all American look. She is not even wearing mascara.

Mark Salling is an American singer and actor and known for his role on the comedy series Glee as Noah "Puck" Puckerman.

He's got the Mohawk thing going on here as he hosts Liquid Pool Lounge at Aria Resort & Casino in Las Vegas on April 7, 2012. The sides of his head are shaved and the tuft of turf left on top is spiked up! He is wearing retro dark rimmed sunglasses and a black faded tee shirt with the sleeves ripped off for that tank top effect.

The ever popular vintage hairstyle is hot for current weddings and this old photograph of a group of brides shows us how to get the look.

1940's Bride and Bridemaids

The naked trees in the background of this outdoor shot would suggest that the season is early spring or perhaps winter. These four ladies are dressed in long white gowns and each has a traditional veil that is placed on top of the head in true retro style. It was common for woman of this era to wear their short curly hair down and as if they would on a daily basis. The bangs are also short and tightly curled. The neckline of their dresses is modest and a pearl necklace was standard. Shoulder pads and long sleeves were also in. Two of the women are wearing wire framed glasses that are barely noticeable. The flower bouquets are large and have white bows as well. Make up was generally fairly natural looking but bright red lipstick was a must. What fun it would be to copy the romantic style of our mothers, grandmothers, or great grandmothers.

The 70s were known for the "no style" hairstyle, when long and super straight hair was the in thing and wearing a thin headband across the forehead was hot fashion.

70s Headband

This young woman has an off center part and no-bangs as the teal blue headband holds the strands off of the face and in place. There is a big flower placed on one side that adds a touch of whimsy and also a true retro charm that is reminiscent of the flower child. She has bleach blonde color that stands out against her suntan skin tone. Her brightly colored short sleeve top is a perfect choice to go with the whole look.

Singers like Kylie know how to wear a cadet cap with long wavy hair and we've got a great shot of her here in Concert at the Hammersmith Apollo in London on April 4th.

Kylie Minogue

Her black hat is fit for a star with silver studs that decorate the brim and top. Her hair color is honey brown with lighter highlights around the edges.
