Gentlemen in the 1920's wore their hair longer on top and shorter on the sides. It was slicked back with greasy products to keep it off of the face and out of the way.

1920s Men's Hairstyle

This young man has a very definite side part that is very much an important detail of this hairstyle. It is actually more off center and serves as the point where each side is combed slightly up and then back. There are no side burns but a full mustache was very popular. His white shirt has a collar that is flipped up toward the neck and a neck tie as well. A vest along with a dark colored wool suit jacket is worn to go to town. Pocket watches were common and were usually attached to a chain. This is an authentic sepia vintage photo to use as an example of how to get this sweet retro style.

Check out Caggie Dunlop with her hair all done up in a retro bouffant-ish style with a modern flair.

Caggie Dunlop

The middle part stops short of the crown where the puff begins. The top back portion and sides have some oomph to them but not too much. Back combing of the under layers adds height and then smoothing of the outer layer gives a straight look to this updo hairstyle. The long bangs are drawn over to the sides and lightly curled for some feminine fringe. Her color is a honey brown with warm highlights. Her make-up is understated and she is wearing a tan colored suit jacket and button up blouse here at "The Lucky One" European Premiere.

This style has the influence of 1940's curls that are slightly brushed out for a soft and glamorous appeal.

Amber Heard

One side is tucked behind her ear and shoulder. The other side swoops up and over and brushes right by the eye. The honey blonde color is bright and warm. The spirals begin at ear level while the top is somewhat smooth. She is wearing deep red lipstick at  "Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows" Los Angeles Premiere.

Whether you are preparing for graduation from college or high school this style is a win win!

Graduation Day

This lovely young lady has long brunette hair that she has styled into simple loose curls. She is wearing her black graduation cap down over her forehead with her bangs tucked up into it. Pulling the sides back and securing them like a partial updo will help to keep the fullness down on the sides so they don't look bushy. Simple stud earrings complete the look.

The bride and bridesmaid (maid of honor) are celebrating with champagne while sporting complimentary hairstyles!

Bride and Bridesmaid

The bride is wearing a vintage inspired wavy partial updo that is full of style. Her blonde shade with highlights and lowlights show off the length in back while the sides are pulled up on the sides and secured. The bangs are curled and swooped over to one side. She is wearing jeweled drop earrings. The bridesmaid is blonde as well and her locks are pulled up into a full updo with just a few fringes left around her face. The back has rings of curls. The bridal gown has a fitted white lace bodice and and a tiered ballerina type skirt that is full length. Her bff is wearing a royal blue halter dress. Both have chosen pink for their lipstick.
