This picture was taken in 1979 to 80 and shows the typical hairstyles of this time. Women wore their hair feathered back and curled with a curling iron. Blue and teal eyeshadow was quite popular. This young lady is shown here with her dad who is wearing the large framed glasses that were big then.

Here is a picture of a typical 80's bi-level hairstyle with big bright yellow wicker earrings to set the retro mood. Hair was cut short on the sides and left longer in the back. Bigger was better so puffy curls were in order. Heavy hold hair gels were used as well as very firm hairspray. Primary colors were popular then and they had to be bold. Making a stand-out-in-the-crowd statement was the goal.  Most women of this time had perms in their hair. This gave the added lift, curl, and puff that was necessary to fit into the fashion.

If you are looking for the perfect hairstyle for homecoming, first consider if you would like to wear your hair up or down. There are some cute looks in both category so take a look.

If you have long hair and would like to wear yours down, then check out Heidi Montag, Hayden Panettiere, Amanda Bynes, Hilary Duff, and Beyonce if you have curly hair.

If you prefer the updo look for your school dance then you have to see Scarlett Johansson, Hayden Panettiere, and Jennifer Love Hewitt.

For those who have short hair, consider these choices Rihanna and Kate Bosworth.

Bad hair days can certainly put a damper on one's mood. You get up one morning and your hair just will not do what it normally does. You finally give up and throw it into a ponytail, or pull an old ball cap over your unruly hair. What causes this terrible styling nightmare?

Number one on the list is hair product build-up that can occur over time. The ingredients in our best loved shampoos and conditioners can stick to the hair and refuse to be rinsed out and so each time a little more product builds up. This can weigh the hair down and cause it to look greasy, stringy, or unruly. The solution is to use a shampoo that is designed to remove this excess product. It is important not to over do with this type of shampoo as it can be stripping.

For women, another culprit is hormone production and estrogen is on the rise during certain times of the cycle which can cause excess oil. This can cause the locks to look limp and lifeless. During this time try washing hair a little more often or even two go arounds instead of of one.

Let's not forget about dry, hot, humid, wet, or cold weather. Changes in climate can make a huge difference. It may be necessary to alter your regime during these environmental challenges.
