Madonna is one celebrity who seems to like the 1940's Hollywood glamour and this hairstyle certainly shows that. Women of the 40's began following the stars for inspiration with fashion and hairdos. Feminine looking soft curls were a big hit.

This lovely lady's hair is shoulder length and is full of loose waves. The center part is showing some dark roots but hey, they match her coat. Blonde locks show up nicely against a black background. Anyone with medium length locks, or someone who is considering cutting their long strands shorter, should take a look at this one. A curl enhancing product would be helpful when styling and using a diffuser to blow-dry would be a helpful hint. Turning head upside down will help with fullness and using fingers to style instead of brushing out the strands will help keep the bend in the shaft.

Sometimes simple is elegant and if you like sleek straight long hair with bangs, take a look at this sedu hairstyle. Her bangs are cut straight across which brings width to an otherwise narrow face. This haircut creates strong lines and angles which look good on a long and oval face. Hair is combed forward and the lengths are graduated in a way that frames the face.

Here is a glamour hairstyle that is short and curly. The sides and back are pulled up to give the appearance of an updo. The soft curls offer a vintage feel to this style, The top is full of height and fluff. Heavy hairspray is needed to keep the strands in place.

If you are looking for a dorky picture of the early 1970's that shows the typical retro hairstyles and clothing, then take a look at this one. What a beehive she's got there which is actually a decade late but some of the older women back then were still stuck in the 60's, just like we see with some of today's women. Men back then had long side burns as we see here. Older men wore haircuts above the ears and younger guys wore their hair longer and it covered the ears.

This photo has a great example of the wide lapels on sports coats and the wide ties. Wow, that orange shirt was quite the hot color then and that burgundy tie is quite the clasher but matches the leather like piping on the collar. Those were the days.

If you like the bouffant, take a look at the how to.

Here is an attractive medium length hairstyle that can be easily styled with a curling iron. The haircut is layered and the bangs are about chin length. The part is off center. The curls start at about the ears where the layers begin as well. The upper strands are combed straight. The hair color is a soft honey blonde with hints of lighter highlights. This is a great everyday style.
