Here is a picture of a teenage boy in the early 40s. His hair is cut short on the sides and long on the top. The long strands were slicked back with grease or lard. This young man has a big wave or swoop of hair on top. He is also wearing the typical eye-glasses of that time. His jeans are baggy are rolled up at the bottom.

Here is a great example of a typical 1940s hairstyle. The young woman is wearing a partial updo which features victory rolls on the sides. She uses an original looking accessory on top that resembles a crown of some kind. Her long dark hair cascades over her shoulders for a very feminine look. Her fair complexion and dark red lips are typical from this post war era and this photograph was taken just after WWII. That is my father in the picture with her.

This hairdo would be very simple re-create. Part the hair in the middle and take a section on each side and roll it around your finger and then secure with covered bobby pins. A strong hold hairspray helps to secure it.

These retro from the past hairstyles actually make a great impression with something a little different for such events as prom or other evenings out.

Here is a brand new risky hairstyle that is on cutting edge, literally! A bowl type hairdo that previously was only seen on boys. Her bleach blonde locks over dark strands really shows the contrast in hair shades. The bangs are combed forward from the top of the crown and the sides look like an extension of the bang. The ends are blunt cut and this is an asymmetrical do, with one side longer than the other. This woman has very trendy tresses.

Hayden Panettiere has great hair and here we see her with beautiful soft waves and you can easily have for yourself. This picture of her was taken at "The Spiderwick Chronicles" Los Angeles Premiere Arrivals. This even took place on 1/31/2008.

This wavy hairstyle is still a popular one among the celebrity circuit. It is a hot look for just about any occasion whether you are looking for something casual or more dressy. It would be cute for Prom or any other evening event as well.

A nice curl enhancing hair product applied to damp hair and then blow-dry with a paddle brush. When hair is dry, use a large barrel curling iron held vertically and wind sections around the tool. Start at about ear level to allow the strands to be straight and smooth at the top. Her long bangs are brushed to the side. To keep the piecey look, avoid brushing through the curls but rather use fingers to style. Use a pomade to the ends to add definition.

If you are looking for a layered hairstyle that is graduated in length to frame your face, then take a look here. This young lady has medium to long length hair that is cut to have the ends fall toward the center and this creates softness around her long narrow face. A large round brush is used with the blow-dryer pointing in a downward motion to get that silky straight effect that is typical of the sedu
