Beautiful Bride

A very formal look and hairstyle to go with a simple satin strapless gown that is form fitting down to about mid thigh where it blossoms into ruffles.

If there is enough length, sections can be folded into shape and pinned and then rolls created. For shorter locks, a ready made hair piece made to match the color would be the answer.

With this look a bride wouldn't have to worry about a hairstyle:

vintage wedding

This bride and groom from the early 1900's shows us how things were done a century ago. The veil is attached to a hat that resembles a shower cap. The nice thing is, it covers up the hair so who has to worry? This is the ultimate idea for the bad hair day bride. She has a pale complexion and no make-up which was a desirable look for this time.

The wedding gown is 3/4 length hitting just past the knee. It has long sleeves and a modest v neck. The bouquet is large and romantic with greens that spring out in random directions.

The groom is wearing a dark tux and is holding his top hat in one hand next to him. His hair is short and slicked back with a side part. He has a boutonniere on his lapel which shows just how old this tradition is. Plenty of tonic helps with the wet look and keeps the stands in place.

There is a table with tablecloth in the background and they are standing on a patterned rug. This sepia photograph shows the props and fashions that make these vintage weddings so special. If you are looking for ideas and inspiration for your themed wedding, this is a good place to start.

Here is a great example of a family on vacation back in the day. It's a classic black and white photograph with big fir trees in the background and a glimpse of a mountain in the background. Photo most likely was taken in Mt Rainier National Park in the Great Pacific Northwest.

Everybody here has short hair. Mom has a typical curled style that was most likely set on rollers the night before. The bangs are brushed straight up and back for height and the sides are curled under right at the ear. The little girl has a pixie cut and a most hysterical expression showing missing teeth, the older sister has a bob with a touch of curl at the ends, and the young boy has a short crew cut. Button up shirts from plain white, to checks, to patterns were popular along with rolled up jeans. And we must not forget those unforgettable cat eye glasses. The year was about 1966.

Wondering what kind of short hairstyles high school girls wore in the 1970's?

Short Feathered

Short Feathered

This gal has wavy locks that are cut in a layered fashion to help prevent too much fullness at the sides. The length is mid neck with little fringes at the ends which was typical of the shag. Variations of this style were popular during the early part of this decade. The bangs are side swept and feathered.
