This vintage photo of a couple from the 1920's shows a perfect example of the bob with finger waves.
A side part is where the side swept bangs begin and they are close to the scalp with defined waves. Bobby pins were usually used on wet hair at night to hold the shape for morning when they were removed. The length is just below the ears.
