Partial Updo with Victory Rolls

Here is a great example of a typical 1940s hairstyle. The young woman is wearing a partial updo which features victory rolls on the sides. She uses an original looking accessory on top that resembles a crown of some kind. Her long dark hair cascades over her shoulders for a very feminine look. Her fair complexion and dark red lips are typical from this post war era and this photograph was taken just after WWII. That is my father in the picture with her.

Cute Prom Updo

Here is a cute prom updo for a young lady who has long straightened hair. Sections are wound around to resemble several buns that are secured on top of the crown with bobby pins. The bangs are brushed straight down over the forehead.

Elegant Updo with Hint of Vintage

Here is an elegant updo with a hint of vintage. Hair is pulled back from a side part and secured into 2 high pigtails that are rolled up and secured to look like two large buns. This style has a 1940s edge to it and a peacock feather is added for drama. The colors in the feather look wonderful with this model's olive skin tone, dark brown hair and eyes. The colors in her eye make-up were inspired by the shades in the feather such as the cool blue. This hairstyle would look lovely for any evening event.

Elegant Updo

Whimsical Youthful Pigtails

 Sometimes a whimsical youthful looking hairstyle is in order. This young lady had pretty medium brown hair that has splashes of copper highlights. The length is down past her shoulders. Hair is pulled back into two loose pigtails that sit low on each side of the head behind the ears. The bangs are parted in the middle and are left out to hang down in front of the ears. Big hoop earring top off this fun and playful look.
