If you like something a little different, messy, and fun for a formal hairstyle, take a look at this one. This woman is dressed in a gown for a special event, yet she looks like she enjoys life and has a good time which is reflected in this funky big hairdo. Something like this would be easy to create by taking sections of hair and winding it around and then securing it to the head leaving big loops. Leave some pieces out and wind them around the outside of a large barrel curling iron to add interest. This is one of those that might attract those who like to live on the wild side.
Hippies were well known in the 60s and 70s. They were usually those in the younger generation (teens and 20 something year olds) who wanted to set themselves apart from the conservative folks. They did this by growing their hair long and often in a no-style fashion. Usually hair was parted in the middle and bang-less. During this time period, long side burns were the thing for men. Headbands were popular and served to keep the sweat out of the eyes, but actually they were merely a fashion statement. Aviator sunglasses along with tie-dye including bright colors finish off the look.

The punk rocker look was wildly popular in the 1980s and is still around today. This woman is wearing a Rod-Stewart-like hairdo with tall and stiff spikes that adorn the top of the head while some strands hang straight down. Her long pieces are braided. The black hair matches her black and red bold get up. Fish net stockings cover her legs and crazy patterns are seen everywhere. There are stripes and checks and lace. This retro era was known for its random choices in design and color and bold was big.

Wow, here is an example of what might have been crazy back in the 60's. What a tall head of hair! This woman's hairstyle has the height of a beehive. Her dark hair is ratted and hairsprayed into a style that is tall enough to look like a top hat. The sides are short and cut at about mid-ear to show her dangle earrings. Her bangs are cut short. What a look! The cat wearing the cat-eye sunglasses is a nice touch as well.

If you love to live life on the edge and to be on the cutting edge of crazy, then this hairstyle may be for you. This is a short straight style that is blunt cut around the bottom for fullness and comes down just below the ear. This is asymmetrical with one side being smooth and the other being pinned up and ratted to look like a nest. This one could be cut so that it could be worn this way or all brushed down neat and tidy. The background color is medium brown and there are bleach blonde chunks of highlighting. The choice of eyeshadow here adds to the drama of this look and is sure to turn a few heads but not for the faint at heart.
