80s Wedding Hair and Fashion

Here is a great example of a 1980s wedding showing the hair and fashion of that time. The bride is in white, the bridesmaids are in a light purple, the flower girl is in a lavender, and the groomsmen are all in light gray tuxes. This was early in the decade and bi-level hairstyles were popular for both men and women. Poodle perms were also all the rage. If you had naturally curly hair, you were in luck, otherwise, you had to make a trip to the salon for a perm.

Here is a close-up view of this bridesmaid's hairdo as it shows how the sides were cut above the ears and the back was left longer. This cut made it easier to get that lift that was necessary to create  "big hair" with the top layers being shorter for fullness at the crown.

This woman has more of that typical poodle look.

The bride was a little bit stuck in the 70s with feathered sides but did sport the bi-level.

And…..this young man shows the fact that both sexes followed pretty much the same style only possibly shorter and straighter if one lacked the natural bend in the tresses. Many males actually visited their hairdresser to get a perm and sometimes it was just done in the back.
