The 1960s flip hairstyle was a popular fashion statement for that decade. Women with shoulder length hair could easily curl the ends up and out for a fun and sassy look. The early 60s brought about the bouffant which could be incorporated into this style as we see here in this photograph taken in about 1968. An off center part gives way to a bang-less forehead. The top back portion is back combed and smoothed over to add lift and fullness. For how to information on how they got that bouffant, check out that link.
Men in this time period generally had short hair on the sides and it was cut above the ears. A heavy bang was in and a full head of hair was fashionable. The Beatles started this bangy hairdo that was adopted by many guys of the younger generation.
