Her hairstyle would be easy to re-create with a spiral perm that starts at about ear level and the top is left straight. Allowing the strands to air dry would be great to preserve the hair health or one could use a diffuser and finger scrunch. Adrianne Palicki has a cute and stylish short wavy bob here that would be perfect for a new look for back to school, starting a new career/job, or just for a new look for fall. You may just be looking for a new short cut for a fresh new start after a big break-up. This is an easy care style and totally up to date. A similar do was extremely popular back in the late 80s and early 90s and you can see in this example. Back then the curls were tighter and kinkier and they were accomplished with a spiral perm. They were also much more poofy. Today's in style look is more relaxed and looser. A little curl enhancing product along with a diffuser and finger scrunching will help to get this sassy bob. Winding a few sections of dry strands around a small barrel curling iron will help to seal the deal.

As the 80's passed to the end of that decade and turned toward the 90's, the big hair was still alive but it changed just a little bit. The classic 1980s puffy top 'do was about to be put to rest, but the fluff was not yet dead. The gradual transition from top heavy to bottom heavy was taking shape. This picture of a bunch of girlfriends from that era (pic was taken around 1989) shows a variety of hairstyles, but they have one thing in common: curly locks. It looks like there are a couple of examples of mall bangs here like the gal on the upper left and right. A popular early 90's look was the spiral perm bob as seen on the woman in the front row and right of center.

If you love spiral curls and lots of them, take a look at this very full head of small twists. This style is reminiscent of the poodle perms from the 80's and still looks hot for today's hairstyles.
