Back in the late 80's, we tried to make our hair look as big as possible even if we had a fine or thin mane. Here in this photo taken back in the day, we can see a true retro experience with mouse, curling iron, and lots of hairspray. Lots of layering around the top of this wavy bob with bangs allows there to be lift on top gaining that big hair look. Volume producing hair products are worked into the roots prior to blow-drying then lifting with a vent brush while concentrating the air there will help to get this flash back look.

Now, here we have something for those who like to be a little more conservative, sleek, and polished. This lovely bride has a short hairstyle that is made to look glamorous and formal with the use of hair products to slick back the locks as the men used to do back in the 30s and 40s. The addition of a jeweled accessory on top of the head polishes off the look. This wedding gown is a little different with white on the bodice and pale pink for the skirt and a darker shade for the tie in the back.

Heidi Montag has great long and loose waves. A side part with long bangs that are swept to the side and curled back give this hairstyle a hint of retro with an almost feathered appearance. There is some real definition of curl with sections showing separation which can be accomplished with defining hair products. Curl enhancing shampoo and condtioner along with a blow-dryer with diffuser attached are great helper tools for this style. Using fingers to scruch while drying is one way to copy this 'do.
