Here is a great example of the classic 60s bouffant flip hairstyle. This one has huge volume with lots of back combing to create a big hump. The ends flip up to add a sassy edge to this 'do. This woman is also sporting some great fashion ideas from this time like a cropped blouse and straight legged pants that hit above the ankle.

Here we have a young woman with an example of early 1960s hair, sweater, skirt, and shoes. This gal is standing out on an old country dirt road with her arms folded just like a teenager would do if she was not into whatever was going on here. She is wearing a white blouse that is tucked into a full skirt that comes around the waist and is very puffy. It looks like she is wearing some kind of slip that might had fullness as well. Her shoes are simple slip-ons and are flats. Her hair is cut in a fashion that would be consistent with the decade prior, but she has plenty of lift on top from back-combing and that is definitely a sign that the 60s were in full swing with the bouffant.

Anna Maria Perez looks like a hit here in this picture of her taken at the Shizue Boutique Grand Opening Summer Soiree in Beverly Hills on June 26th 2008. She has got some real retro sparkle here with her bouffant on top and long spiral curls below. This hairstyle has the appearance of a partial updo with the back combing on the crown. The hair is pulled straight back and smoothed over the top of the ratted underneath layers and secured high on the back of the head with a clip. This would help to get the height that we see here. The bangs are flat ironed and brushed to one side. She is holding a cute little dog in her arms and toting a fancy hand bag in the other.

Now, here is a hairdo that reflects the retro 80s as well as the 60s in the fact that it combines the big full hair and the ratted bouffant. This is a partial updo with the back left down and long almost resembling the mane of a horse, and the sides are pulled up and secured at the back of the crown. The long strands at the top front are back combed and full of firm hold hair product to help it keep its shape which is tall and swirled around. This is certainly an eye catcher for those to who love to stand out. What a wild style but at the same time, its kind of fun and remotely cute.

The adults are usually a decade or so behind on the current styles, but stick around because the styles always come around again with a few new twists. All different types of retro are in today.

Women golfers in the early 70s show the hairstyles that older ladies wore during this time period and the fashions. The gal in the middle is sporting the left over 60s bouffant while the other two just have short no care hair. Skirts were popular in primary colors and patterns such as geometric. Purses were not much of a fashion statement as we can see, but those Mr. Magoo big sunglasses were very popular.

This photo from 1972 shows the hair and fashions that one might see at a family Christmas gathering. The pre-teen on the left has a haircut that was called a fluorantine. It was a variation of the shag but a little different. It was layered, had bangs, and was about shoulder length or just past. This was a time when the long, straight, and no-style hair was the most popular but some just did not look that great in that 'do. The younger girl has a simple bob. The older woman in the doorway is sporting the bouffant which was on its way out but some preferred to hang onto to this look for awhile longer.

This picture was taken in 1964 and is a great example of what types of hairstyles you might have seen on women and girls. The woman standing in the background is in her early 20's and is sporting a bouffant without bangs. Her hair is pulled up into an updo with much height and fullness that was accomplished with ratting the strands and products such as Dippity Do and Aquanet. Her eye make-up is dramatic with dark liner that extends past the corners. The mom has a bleach blonde poof doo. The child has a pixie cut and back then parents usually cut their kid's hair which is obvious with the uneveness.

This picture shows three generations of women and was taken back in the early 60's. The young lady in the middle is a teenager here and we see the bouffant hair which was just beginning to make an entrance during this time. The woman on the right is the mom and she is still sporting a more conservative 50's hairstyle that is styled more closely to the head and not as full as the younger generation was wearing at the time. The woman on the left is of course the grandmother and she looks like she is wearing something in between the two hairdos. The ladies are wearing peddle pushers which would be similar to today's capri pants only fitting close to the leg. Patterned fabrics were popular back then as well as 3/4 length sleeves and boat necks.
