You can see her dark roots at the part which is apparently "in style" as per celebrities like Madonna. This is a simple no style hairstyle that was popular in the early 1970's and is good for retro flair. Going bang-less is okay as long as you don't mind the look of a a longish forehead. Her eyebrows are very dark for a contrast factor. She has a squarish jawline with more of a pointy chin. A flat iron can help to gain the sleek shiny appeal.

The shag hairstyle has been around since the 1970s. It is a timeless cut and is always in fashion. Small changes can be made to it to give it an update and keep it lively: a little shorter here or a little longer there or more or less curly. The model above has hers blown out straight but the layers and color really create movement.

Here is a funny 70s picture of a pre-teen sporting a typical hairstyle for that time as well as an example of some of the fashions for that time. A long granny style skirt that looks like a bedspread and the top looks like something from the 1800's with puffy short sleeves and gathered round neck. Obviously shoes were an after thought as blue and red tennis shoes are hardly appropriate but comfortable. This 12 year old's hair is long and straight and parted on the side with a clip holding the bangs over to the side. Using clips was very popular in the early 1970s to hold the hair out of the eyes as no-style hairstyles were cool during this time. Notice the furnishings like the television on the right (that had no remote as children were the channel changers) and the early American decor. The carpet and curtains were a brownish gold color.
