Miley Cirus is all about retro country style here in this picture of her taken during a performance on ABC's Good Morning America Friday July 18th 2008. Her feathered hairstyle might remind one of Farrah Fawcett's popular 70s 'do back in the day. She has a side part with hair that is styled smooth down to about ear level where the strands transition into a curled back fashion. Her long locks cascade over her shoulders and intermingle with the ruffles on the front of her checkered cowgirl shirt. She is wearing jean shorts and funky scrunch boots which some of us remember from the 80s. She is all smiles with microphone in hand.

Bree Williamson has pretty blonde locks that have some retro appeal here with a feathered appearance and loose curl. This look hearkens back to the 70s when Farrah Fawcett hair was popular. Hair is parted near the middle and is curled back started at about eye level. Winding sections around a medium barrel curling iron held vertically and wrapping toward the back help to achieve this style.

If you are looking for a lovely long formal hairstyle that can be worn down, take a look at this one. This young woman has a straight feathered hairdo that is reminiscent of decades gone by (late 70s) and looks glamorous with this simple style. Using a large round brush and blow-dryer it would be easy to create this look as you would point the dryer in a downward motion as you run the brush under the sections. Next, direct the air toward the back while brushing the side in the same direction. Having some layers cut into locks is important to help achieve that feathered appearance.

Kelly Ripa always looks so great. She is in her late 30's and is approaching her 40's, but shows us women that we can look hot at any age. We love her medium length, feminine, and softly curled hairstyle. The top of her style is smoothed out straight while the bottom gently curls around her shoulders. This combination is wildly popular among the celebrities right now. She has a side part with the hair being swept over and brushed back. This slightly resembles the feathered hairdos of days gone by.

Real pictures from the 1970s help to see the what the feathered hairstyles looked like from that time. This young woman has shoulder length naturally golden blonde hair that is layered in such a way to resemble feathers down the sides. This was the hot hairdo of the 70s which got its inspiration from actress Farrah Fawcett of Charlies Angels. Either curling irons or hot rollers were used to help with the styling.

If you are on the hunt for a rockin' rocker hairstyle, then you must see Steven Tyler with his long 70's hairstyle. This picture of him was taken at an event to donate memorabilia to the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood, Florida on 12/7/2007. His layered and feathered locks are highlighted to add dimension to this retro look. He has dark brown hair with an artistic flair which is accomplished with the addition of copper color highlights and accessories such as feathers and colored braids added to dangle down each side. These decorations are clipped into place and help to showcase his Native American (Cherokee) descent. He is sporting one of his trademark scarves wrapped around his neck and he usually takes that scarf and hangs it from his mic as he performs. He is wearing a plain white shirt with black vest and his neck wrap is an animal print.

The 70's had some really cool hairstyles, but this one is not one of those. This does show the basic idea of how feathered hair was created with the haircut which is layered. The bangs are parted in the middle along with the rest of the locks and then brushed to each side. This was a typical look for this decade and was popular for boys as well as girls. This was hip teenager style for 1977 and we see these necklaces with beads and shells on young people today.

This hairstyle by Mandy Moore could have stepped right out of 1970 something. The feathered back effect that was popularized by Farrah Fawcett during the 70s is showing up on many celebrities. The center part with bangs brushed to the sides at about eye level is part of the package. What a great retro hairdo for medium to long hair.

Shandi Fiennessy shows us a modern twist on a retro blast from the past feathered back hairstyle. Her hair is blonde and bright with the help of some highlights that add dimension to this layered hairstyle. Bangs are long and brushed to the side. The length is a little longer in the back with the sides brushing just past her shoulders. There is height at the top which can be accomplished with a little root lift spray concentrated on the roots of damp hair. Using a large round brush pull up while applying heat to the hair near the scalp and then roll hair over brush while drying and finish with a blast of cold air to set. Direct the hair over the brush and toward the back for the sides while styling with the blow-dryer. Touch up ends with a large barrel curling iron if necessary.
