Help for Dry Damaged Hair

If your hair seems to be brittle and to lack that healthy shine that it should have, consider a deep conditioning treatment that can be performed at a salon/spa in your area. Many hair salons offer these treatments and they can do wonders for your hair making it soft, managable, and healthy looking again.

Environmental pollutants, hair coloring, perming, heat styling, excessive washing, and sun damage can contribute to damaged hair.

There are also at home treatments specifically for dry damaged hair that can help. Kerastase is one line of hair products that offer some good options and there are many others as well.

A friend who is a former hair stylist offered this recipe for a masque that can be made with ingredients from the supermarket.

  • 1 cup refried beans (vegie type)
  • 1 avocado (peeled of course)
  • 1 cup coconut milk
  • 1/4 cup cooked sweet potatoes
  • 1/3 cup olive oil

Put ingredients in a blender or food processor and blend until smooth. Apply masque to hair and cover it with a shower cap and leave on for about 1/2 an hour. Rinse hair completely and massage well to remove all of the material from hair using warm water.

This treatment is very high in fat and should provide much needed moisture to dry hair.

It is important to note that this is to be done at one's own risk if he or she chooses to try it.

So whether you choose to try a salon hair treatment or try something at home, there are options to help with damaged hair.
